about FPC
Founded in 1959, F-O-R-T-U-N-E Personnel Consultants (FPC) brings over 40 years of recruiting and placement expertise to our clients and candidates. FPC steadily grew to national prominence as an executive recruiting specialist, with offices across the U.S. serving an array of industries and disciplines. Today, FPC continues to define the industry and uphold the principles of professionalism and integrity on which it was established.

In 1986, Fortune Personnel Consultants of Bel Air, Inc. opened its doors as an executive search and recruiting firm. Fortune Franchise Corporation, a prestigious 40+ year old New York based operation, is recognized as a viable leader in the placement industry. Fortune Center - executive offices and conference facilities - was established in 1989 to accommodate the growth of our Bel Air, Maryland firm.

Since opening, the Bel Air office has developed a team of experienced professional consultants. Often ranking among the top 10 in the nationwide system of 100+ Fortune offices, Bel Air has a proven track record of service to client companies.

The consistent effectiveness and success enjoyed by Fortune is a result of many factors, including the following:

Fortune Personnel Consultants of Bel Air, Inc. actively participates as members of Professional Engineering and Technical Societies including the Instrument Society of America, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Technical Association of the Pulp & Paper Industry, Society of Plastic Engineers, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

A high degree of flexibility in meeting client needs. Confidentiality is the byword and we are frequently called on to arrange a confidential replacement and/or assist in out placement. Fee arrangements are primarily based on contingency agreements; however, pure search contracts, or some variation thereof, are not uncommon.

A coast-to-coast network of offices, each serving a different geographical area and specializing in industries which compliment our Bel Air operation. We are in a position to utilize the expertise and assistance of this network without the inconvenience of multiple contacts with the client company. The designated Bel Air consultant serves as sole liaison and coordinates the efforts of all other Fortune offices.

Experienced, professional consultants, each specializing in a particular discipline and/or industry. Teamwork is stressed and any new consultant is interviewed by the entire staff prior to being hired by the firm.

An aggressive and sustained advertising program directed towards specific areas and utilizing appropriate technical publications as well as local/national print media, including the Wall Street Journal. A most effective cost-saving advertising concession is available to client companies, taking advantage of the Fortune discount position with various media.

Computerized data base of applicants and companies, facilitating immediate and efficient file search relative to any given situation. On-line capabilities extend the consultants ability to find just the right candidate for a given position.

Specific areas of specialization by industry and discipline is conducive to continued development of personal skills and proficiency on the part of our consultants. By utilizing our many years of experience and capitalizing on the Fortune Network we are in a position to efficiently work any discipline area.

Fortune takes pride in strong sustained business relationships developed over the past years. Our list of clientele includes not only the usual array of Fortune 500 companies but many small and mid-sized operations which we are helping to grow - a further indication of our flexibility.

In-house interview facilities represent one of our most useful tools. This program allows client companies, by previous appointment only, to utilize conference room facilities available at Fortune Center. This procedure allows company representatives to interview pre-screened candidates in an efficient, organized manner. This program enjoys a 90% success ratio.

The Fortune "In House"
Your Best Hiring Tool

One of the most effective hiring tools offered by Fortune Personnel Consultants of Bel Air is the In House concept. Utilizing conference room facilities available at Fortune Center, company representatives are in a position to see several candidates during one session.

This program is highly organized, providing ideally for a maximum of 5 pre-screened candidates with provisions for a 45 minute interview and a 15 minute debriefing by the Fortune Consultant. During the course of the in-house, the company representative is made privy to de-briefing, thereby gaining insight into candidates reactions.

Primary advantages are:

1. No interruptions.
2. Opportunity to see good cross section of candidates (possible from different parts of the country) within the same time frame, allowing same day comparison.
3. A real time saver - company representative can see up to five applicants in one session.
4. Confidentiality - Many positions, for various reasons, are highly confidential from the company viewpoint. For example, you would not like the word to get out to the competition that you are operating with a position vacant, for whatever reason. There also exist those situations where confidential replacement may be indicated. Obviously, regardless of the reasons, interviewing away from the company office is highly desirable.
5. Strong commitment from the consultant to fill a
particular position is an inherent part of any in-house.
6. Company representative has the opportunity to meet consultant and develop a feel for overall Fortune operation.
7. Interview expenses are greatly reduced. Expensive procedure of flying candidates into company offices is arranged after initial interview and applicant has been qualified as viable.
8. Proven success ration - approximately 90% of in-houses result in the job being filled and, in most cases, much quicker than normal interview procedures.
9. Candidates are interviewed in more relaxed, a neutral ground atmosphere.
10. Immediate feedback from candidates through de-briefing procedure.
11. Better communication is established between the
company and Fortune.
